La Torre alle Tolfe
The estate covers 100 hectares, including vineyards, olive groves, arable fields and forests, and stretches across the hills towards Siena and the heart of the Chianti region. The entire estate is run as a certified organic farm, producing various wines and premium olive oil, and the arable land is cultivated with a range of organic cereals and legumes. Thanks to the absence of pesticides and other intensive agrochemicals, the fields and forests are also home to a rich fauna and a remarkable variety of wild flowers. In addition, there are special corners dedicated to animals and their breeding, a vegetable garden that provides guests with fresh and original produce, and a herb garden that delights them with local scents.

At La Torre alle Tolfe, they enjoy the slow pace of life while admiring the magnificent view from the Borgo of the majestic Siena and the green hills of Chianti. They encourage guests and locals alike to join them in seasonal activities: grape and olive harvesting, mushroom picking, foraging and olive pruning. They are happy to host visitors who stay for a few days, weeks or years in the Borgo accommodation or in the nearby apartments of the country residence.
Their aim is to ensure that this small piece of beautiful countryside thrives culturally and naturally and to carry the traditional values of the past into a bright, glorious, happy and sustainable future for their children and their children's children.
Written records of wine production on their estate date back to at least 1316. Today, they have 13 hectares of vineyards interspersed between olive groves, forests and meadows. Giacomo Mastretta, a winemaker of considerable renown, especially in the world of natural winemaking, is now responsible for the wine production. Under his expert guidance, six wines are currently produced: Chianti Colli Senesi, Chianti CS Riserva, Rosato Lunella, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo and Colorino. They also produce two organic Grappa, which they distil from their Sangiovese grapes. Tuscan traditions are strong at La Torre alle Tolfe. Giacomo's expertise is complemented in the vineyards, where Mania Castelli and their agronomist Stefano Amadeo strive to work with nature and the climate to produce rich, organically grown grapes with zero impact on the soil and its natural biodiversity.
