Grape varieties: Syrah 30%, Ciliegiolo 30%
La Malena is a blend of Ciliegiolo and Syrah. The Syrah comes from a small vineyard planted in 1993.
After the spontaneous fermentation in cement tanks, the wine is aged in used barriques for about a year and then six months in bottles.
The wine is not filtered and there is a small addition of sulfites.
Vineyard: Syrah 2000 mq (1993) – Ciliegiolo 3000 mq (2005)
Soil: Tufo di Siena (Sand-Clay)
Production: 50 ql grapes per hectare
Vinification: Alcoholic fermentation without selected yeast in concrete tank and malolactic fermentation in barrels.
Wine without clarification and filtration.
Aging: 15 months in 225 liter barrels of Allier oak. Six months aging in bottle before the release.
