TASTING EVENT OF THE YEAR! CAPPELLANO BAROLO VERTICAL

The Cappellano tasting miracle will take place from Saturday to Sunday in a beautiful château surrounded by a park, offering a true retreat. For guests who prefer to depart after the Cappellano vertical tasting, we also offer the Saturday evening program only, priced at CZK 17,950. This includes a Champagne aperitivo, the Cappellano Barolo line-up, and a degustation dinner. We will, of course, take care of transportation to Hradec Králové and Prague on Saturday evening.

A Kind Note on the Menu

I have received positive feedback about the event, though some of you were surprised by the inclusion of less noble ingredients in the menu. Please rest assured that it is not my intention to compromise the quality of the event or profit from the food. The budget for the menu is entirely managed by our chef, and I want Michal and his team to be fairly compensated for their time and effort.

Lately, I find myself less drawn to dishes centered on foie gras, caviar, and truffles and more impressed by chefs who can transform humble ingredients into something extraordinary. Personally, I am not a great enthusiast of innards, but when prepared with skill, they can be absolutely delicious. I have full confidence that Michal will craft a menu that does justice to Cappellano wines.

The Cappellano estate represents the pinnacle of excellence in Barolo. Outstanding vineyard positions and meticulous management in the Gabutti MGA in the village of Serralunga d’Alba, combined with a very small production and a commitment to privacy,  make Cappellano wines exceptionally rare.

With an entire evening dedicated to the Cappellano family’s work, Flemming will provide a comprehensive account during the tasting.

Important Note: We will taste both Barolo Piè Rupestris and Barolo Piè Franco. Piè Franco is the result of Teobaldo’s decision in the late 1980s to replant part of the Gabutti MGA with a selection of ungrafted shoots from his Piè Rupestris vineyard, an effort to preserve the traditional, pre-phylloxera character of Nebbiolo and uphold the authenticity of his wines.

All wines served during the evening have been purchased directly from the Cappellano estate as their exclusive importer, and have been stored under optimal conditions in our warehouse. Two bottles of each of the ten labels will be poured for 22 tasters. 

 Zámek Dobřenice

Robert Katschner, great-grandson of one of the leading figures in Czechoslovak industry during the First Republic, is hosting the weekend at his family’s country estate, Zámek Dobřenice. The château and its beautiful park will provide a magnificent backdrop for this exclusive getaway.

 Dinner Menu

Michal Zeman, executive chef of Restaurant Grill Duran, will prepare a menù degustazione di propria fantasia to accompany the wines. Michal possesses both talent and sensitivity. His passion for balance, rooted in local seasonal produce with a special focus on vegetables and unnoble cuts, harmonizes beautifully with our wines. 

 Izaak Reich

Flemming’s is honored to be associated with Izaak Reich, an ultra-premium Czech glassworks entirely dedicated to hand-blown wine glassware, designed, produced, and promoted under its own brand.

The owner of Izaak Reich, Adam Havlíček, has generously provided the glassware for the weekend, and will be present as a guest.

 In order to maintain an intimate and exclusive experience, participation in this exceptional wine tasting is limited to just 16 guests, due to the restricted availability of bottles.
