Grape varieties: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo
The Carmignano Terre a Mano from Fattoria di Bacchereto represents the long tradition of great blended reds from the Prato area. Produced with an important base of Sangiovese and a balance of black Canaiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon, which have been present in the area since the Medicis.
Fattoria di Bacchereto is located in the hilly area south-west of Prato, a large estate of over 160 hectares of which only eight hectares are planted with vineyards and the rest is destined for olive groves, woods, orchards, chestnuts and meadows. The wild and uncontaminated environment prompted Rossella to embrace biodynamics since 2002 with the desire to produce healthy wines in harmony with nature. Vegetal composting is practiced between the rows and only sulfur and copper are used. In the cellar, vinification takes place with minimal intervention, allowing the grapes to retain their maximum expressive potential without too much enological interference.
Carmignano Terre a Mano from Fattoria di Bacchereto is a genuine and sincere Tuscan wine, which brings to the glass the philosophy of an unconventional winery, always attentive to the authenticity of the terroir. The grapes come from 20-year-old vines grown at about 250 meters above sea level on soils characterized by the presence of shale, sandstone and clays. The fermentation takes place in cement with natural yeasts and a maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine rests for 12-18 months in 350 liter Allier oak barrels and is refined for a further six months in the bottle. In the glass it has a ruby red color. On the nose it offers up aromas of cherry, small berries, vegetal notes, green pepper, hints of licorice, leather, blond tobacco and soft spices. The taste is intense, rich, with lively tannins and a fresh and very persistent finish.
