Andrea Occhipinti
After having met Gradoli and its vineyards as a student of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, so much so that it became the subject of his degree thesis, in 2004 Andrea Occhipinti embarked on this extraordinary journey.
Born on the north-western shores of Lake Bolsena, in the Gradoli area at about 450 m above sea level, the Occhipinti farm takes advantage of the happy pedo-climatic condition characterized by the presence of the largest volcanic lake in Europe.
Its goal is to preserve and enhance the characteristics of the two indigenous Gradoli vines, Aleatico and Grechetto Rosso, through the mass selection of the vines most suited to the volcanic nature of the land, scrupulous methods with which the grapes, at the right degree of maturation, are harvested and transported, and a special care in the phases of drying, vinification and conservation, where the flavor of tradition and the effervescence of innovation blend perfectly.
